Concurrently, since 2020, he served as an adjunct professor within Azusa Pacific University's physical therapy program.

Klein also worked for a year and a half as a physical therapist at Kaiser Permanente’s specialty spine clinic in Baldwin Peak, California, where he helped pioneer a new telehealth acute spine program (2021-23). In all, he brings seven years of experience in the field of physical therapy, working in private practice, hospital outpatient, hospital inpatient, collegiate sports, and home healthcare settings.

His areas of expertise include board specialization in orthopedics, geriatrics, and sports, with additional expertise in running, footwear, manual therapy, lower extremity rehabilitation and spine care. He is one of the only physical therapists in the country to be a triple board-certified clinical specialist.

Klein earned a doctor of philosophy in rehabilitation and movement science degree from Azusa Pacific University (2024), a doctor of physical therapy degree from Western University of Health Sciences (2016), and a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from the University of Puget Sound (2013).

He lives in Sherwood with his wife Regina and daughter Isabella. Matt and his wife are both distance runners who enjoy training and competing while taking their daughter along in her running stroller. He is the founder of the website Doctors of Running, where he teaches about the art and the science of running shoes and how to find the best shoe for you.
