Q: Why did you choose to major in English?
A: I chose to major in English because I love stories. For me, I want to tell stories, both the stories in my head and the stories of other people. The major allows me to study the art of storytelling and how the many talented people before me have used it. I love my professors because they will sit down and nerd out with me about books but also because they are genuinely interested and care about my personal story.
Q: How have you felt known at ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓƵ Fox?
A: I’ve felt known in numerous ways at ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓƵ Fox. Professors invite me over to their homes for dinners or movie nights. Friends love adventuring to Portland or hunting for sand dollars on the coast, but they are just as happy to drive with me to the store for a carton of milk. I’ve felt comfortable showing my true self to the people at ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓƵ Fox. I binge watch TV shows at a professor’s house or get revenge on President Baker for one of his many pranks. Fox has known me in my truest form, and for that, I am thankful.
Q: How have you grown in your faith while at ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓƵ Fox?
A: There are two moments I vividly remember changes in my faith. The first was when I was a freshman, and my friends and I stayed up till 2 a.m. talking about our different views on Jesus. We all had different stories and experiences, and to hear and share those in a safe community was an eye-opening experience. The second was when I studied abroad at Oxford. Having the chance to interact with people of many different backgrounds and faiths in a highly intellectual and secular environment was informing and challenging. It made me rely on God a whole lot more and showed me how to trust in him completely.
